LOS ANGELES, Calif. —
The guys on “Jersey Shore” are known for their fist-pumping antics on the dance floors of Seaside Heights – and cast member Ronnie Magro kept the fists flying outside the club and landed behind bars.
According to People, following an altercation in September, which was caught by MTV cameras, Magro was arrested for aggravated assault for striking a man with a closed fist.
The 24-year-old reality star told the mag that he was notified by mail that the charges were dismissed, but said he spent a few hours in jail, had a mug shot taken and paid $600 in bail.
“I definitely felt out of place,” Ronnie said of his time in jail. “It’s definitely a place I never want to go back to again. Definitely a lesson learned.”
Ronnie claims the fight erupted after an unidentified party yelled “racist” comments about the cast member’s African-American security guards and allegedly possibly spat on him.
“I really don’t feel bad for the altercations that I did get into in Seaside because I’m really not a person who likes to fight,” Ron explained to the mag. “He was just being a drunk jerk, saw the camera… [and] I think he chased us down like two blocks or something like that. At that point, you’re like, ‘What am I gonna do?’”
Ronnie, who was also involved in a separate fight, which will be featured on the January 7 episode of the MTV series, says he and his cast mates were often targets while out on the town.
“You’ll see throughout the show, we do go out and if we do get into an altercation… it’s us just defending ourselves or reacting to somebody else,” he told the mag. “People [were] out of hand… I regret getting arrested. I don’t regret having the fight.”
Though Ronnie said the charges were dismissed, Mike Mohl, chief of detectives with the Ocean County prosecutor’s office, told the mag that the case is currently with prosecutors and is under review.
