Pablo Cruise
Another unsung Rock Group from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
This California based group released their debut album in 1975. It was not until the 1977 release of the bands third album “A Place in the Sun” that the group achieved commercial success.
The group has undergone a number of lineup changes in its members since it was founded.
From 1977 to 1983 they charted such hits as:
A PLACE IN THE SUN
WHATCHA GONNA DO?
DON’T WANT TO LIVE WITHOUT IT
LOVE WILL FIND A WAY
I WANT YOU TONIGHT
COOL LOVE
I GO TO RIO
and others….
The groups top hits were “Watcha Gonna Do?” and “Love will find a way” which both reached #6 on the Billboard Charts.
The group broke up from 1986-1996 before reuniting. They are still performing together, though with a few new members.
Many fans originally assumed that Pablo Cruise was the name of the lead singer, or some other member of, the band. This was not the case. There was no actual person named Pablo Cruise. The founding members of the group were:
David Jenkins – Vocals, Guitar
Cory Lerios – Keyboards, vocals
Steve Price – Drums
Bud Cockrell – Bass, vocals
